Pork Chop Dinner Ideas

As a busy mom who loves to get dinner on the table as quickly as possible with the least amount of dishes I adore meals that are all done in one pot or pan. These Parmesan pork chops are just that! You make your side dishes right on the sheet pan with your pork chops.

The pork chops come out amazingly tender, juicy and flavorful. I personally used bone-in pork chops for this recipe but you can always your boneless. Usually boneless are a bit thicker of a cut so just watch your cooking time on those. Some say that bone-in are a little juicier.

One thing is sure. Don’t overcook your pork chops! This results in a dry, chewy pork chop and no one wants that! The internal temperature of pork chops should be 145 degrees F. Buy a meat thermometer and make sure you don’t overcook them.

Trust me. A meat thermometer is worth the money!

How to Make Parmesan Pork Chops

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a bowlcombine the olive oil, thyme, garlic, pepper, salt and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Brush 1/2 of the mixture on the top of the pork chops. Place the pork chops on the baking sheet.

I felt that the seasonings were a bit boring. So I added a Greek flare to it. I did use the thyme , but I added oregano , basil and some cavenders Greek seasoning to it. I also added lemon juice. I tossed all including pork chops in a freezer bag. I seared my very thick chops in the skillet and pre cooked my potatoes a tiny bit before tossing them in the bag. No need for the broiler this way. I’ve been cooking since I was 8 . Then I took lessons from my beloved father in law who was from Greece and was a professional chef. It turned out great! I’m a working mom, grandmother and wife as well. My kids loved it. My family does not care for crunchy green beans, or potatoes . You may want to take your chops out for a minute or two and broil the veggies a bit. 1 to 3 minute depending if you have an electric or gas stove. Gas broilers heat up quicker.

One way to determine your porks' doneness is by the color of the juices that come out of it when you poke a hole in it with a knife or fork. If the juices run clear or are very faintly pink, the pork is done cooking. If they're mostly or entirely pink or red, it's best to continue cooking.

Is it better to bake or pan fry pork chops? ›

While there are a number of ways to cook pork chops for dinner, baking is arguably the easiest path to perfection. The hands-off cooking method cooks pork chops gently and evenly without the need for extra fat, resulting in juicy, healthier pork chops that pair well with practically any side dish.

Should I cook pork chops in butter or oil? ›

I use both! At the same time! The butter helps achieve that golden brown color and adds more flavor, but you need the oil, too, because it has a higher smoke point and keeps the butter from burning. How long do you cook pork chops in a frying pan?

Place meat in a dish and cover with water. Remove meat and stir roughly 4 level Tbs of baking soda into the water. Put meat back in and soak (in refrigerator) overnight. Rinse THOROUGHLY and cook.

Do you season pork chops before or after? ›

On their own, pork chops are a lean, bland cut of meat. Seasoning with salt before cooking is an essential step in bringing out the meat's natural flavors. Season generously, and remember that even a very short brine (just 30 minutes) will improve the taste and texture of the meat.

Is it OK if pork is a little pink inside? ›

But even if you still choose not to try cooking your pork as low as medium, you should absolutely only cook it to 145°F (63°C). If your family tries to send it back because “it's pink” or “it's underdone,” tell them confidently that you took its temperature and that color is not an indicator of doneness.

Is it better to cook pork chops slow or fast? ›

Cook them low and slow. Most times, when we cook pork, we cook it at high temps. Pork, and pork chops in particular, cook up pretty fast. However, pork only needs an internal temperature of 145 degrees.

Do pork chops get more tender the longer you cook them? ›

Because pork chops are such a lean cut, they are relatively quick-cooking and prone to overcooking. When they're cooked for even a few minutes too long, whether it's in the oven or on the stovetop or grill, they're quick to dry out, and — you guessed it — become tough, chewy, and less than appealing.

Does soaking pork chops in salt water make them tender? ›

A brine is essentially just salt and water. It helps prevent moisture loss during cooking, and the salt also helps tenderize the meat from the inside out.
