Super Bowl Party Buffet Table (2024)

If you are planning to throw a Super Bowl watch party, then you MUST have a Super Bowl party buffet table.

This isn’t a sit-down around the table affair. It’s a sit-around the TV party!

It amazes me how SO many people get together to watch the Super Bowl! And for most, it isn’t even their football team that’s playing. There is something about the Super Bowl and huddling around a big screen tv that brings people together.

To throw a bang-out Super Bowl-themed party, you MUST have a buffet table for all the food. There is NO way a sit-down dinner will work (unless your friends and family don’t like football – but you wouldn’t be having a Super Bowl party then, haha!).

*Knowing you will be planning a buffet, go to my “How to Create a Buffet Table” post after you are done reading. It covers everything you need to know. Don’t worry – I will have a link at the bottom, so you won’t need to remember.

Because Super Bowl parties are ALL about football and the teams playing (and the halftime show for us non-football watchers), make your Super Bowl party buffet table fun with my Super Bowl party decor ideas.

Note: this is one of the few times I suggest buying paper plates, napkins, and disposable utensils and cups. You will have too many guests over to deal with all those dishes! I would suggest waiting until you know which teams are playing and then purchasing their team colors for your disposables. Even better if you can find them with the teams’ logos.

For the food; ask your friends and family to bring a dish to share. This gives you more time to prepare your home, and for decorating! That’s the best part – setting up your Super Bowl party decorations! It will make the party so festive!!

Assuming you have followed my “How to Create a Buffet Table” instructions; you have determined the buffet location and the base of it is ready for decorating.

Now you could go over to the local party supply store and pick up decorations, but that won’t make your guests say “wow” and compliment you on your entertaining prowess.

I don’t know about you, but I like to impress my friends and family.

Check out my buffet table below. It’s ready for guests to add their food dishes.

I incorporated some easy, fun to create, Super Bowl party decorating ideas for you. They don’t take much time and won’t cost much.

How to Create a Super Bowl Party Buffet Table

Step 1: The foundation layer for your Super Bowl party buffet table

For the primary layer of your buffet, if your local team isn’t playing, I would suggest going with white, like I did. If your team is playing, definitely use one of their team colors as the primary layer.

Step 2: The accent layer for your DIY football themed buffet table

Then for the accent layer of color, add a fun diy football field table runner made from artificial turf, with white lines painted on it.

The runner really adds to the theme.

Step 3: Adding food dishes to your Super Bowl buffet

Once you have your foundation and accent layers set up on your buffet table, it’s time to add your food dishes.

If your Super Bowl watch party is a buffet where guests bring dishes, then put out your food (as I did) and leave space for their dishes. But have a rough idea of where you will place their bowls and platters.

Step 4: Completing your Super Bowl party buffet table with decor items

Now that the food dishes are in place, it’s time to add the fun stuff! The football-themed decorations and important food signs.

I’ve gotta tell you ~ I LOVE my referee penalty flags! They were so flipp’n easy to make. I put them inside a silver bucket and added a few in front, so each guest can take one and have fun throwing it when there’s a foul called (or when they feel a foul should be called, haha).

Next, one of the easiest diy I did for my Super Bowl party buffet table was the reusable chalkboard food signs. They seriously took me 15 minutes and I love that they can be reused over and over.

I put out the food signs for my own items and also made extra signs that my guests can use. And the best part ~ if someone makes a mistake, just wipe it off and rewrite it!

Then to go with my diy football field table runner, I added diy football goalposts. They cost me less than $3 to make!!

I tried two different locations on the table for the goalposts.

First I placed them in the endzone of the football field table runner. But then I figured they were taking up space where food dishes should go, so I moved them to the back corners of the buffet table.

Which way do you prefer? They look super cute in either location!

Have fun planning and making your Super Bowl-themed party a success! Your friends and family will be SO impressed, and will be talking about your Super Bowl party all year!
